Paid internship at 21 Draw
You are handed 12 hours of raw footage of a Disney artist painting. Then you are left alone to turn it into a full course.
Would you rather spend a full day editing that recording, getting every cut right, than chase the next reel?
Then read on. If you can work like that without anyone standing over you (work experience is negligible), three months here puts real published courses in your portfolio, gives you work you are allowed to show, and can end in a contract with us. We trust in young talents.
01 — Who we are
Our teachers are artists who have worked at Disney, Marvel, Pixar and many more studios.
They sit at the canvas and paint a full piece from the first line to the last, and they teach (sometimes even babble) while they do it.
That reaches us as 10, sometimes 12 and even 16 hours of raw video. The artist repeats himself. He goes quiet for four minutes while he blends a shadow. The camera stays wide when the only thing that matters is a small corner of the canvas. He provides no notes on how to edit (and he won’t if you ask for it).
Someone has to turn that into a full-fledged course a student can follow from start to finish. That is the job, and we only give it to people who can do it alone and have high standards — even when it seems impossible to make anything good (garbage in, garbage out).
You’ll be thrown into the fire, you are ready for a challenge, and you might get the toughest courses to edit. This is exactly where you grow the fastest. You believe in your skills, and can turn any course around.
02 — The problem
Most young editors are never trusted with a whole project. That is why good editors stay stuck. Not a lack of skill. A lack of anything finished with their name on it.
03 — How we work
This is the main reason the job suits some people and not others, so we want to be exact about it.
You will work in an independent project, setting your own standards, while leveraging on our experience.
We give you a checklist of goals. It sets out what a finished product looks like. It is our standard, and it will help you build a solid portfolio piece.
We look closely at your first lesson. After that we define a set time for review meetings: daily, or weekly. If something misses, we point at the item on the list and you fix it. So you are never left guessing what good means here. You are trusted to reach it without being chased.
If you need someone checking your work as you go in order to stay motivated, please do not apply. You will be unhappy here, and so will we.
04 — The job
This is craft work, not creative work. The teacher is the artist. Your job is to make their teaching clear.
Cut long recordingsSilences, retakes, filler and tangents — or even sneezes.
Zoom in on the canvasSo the student sees exactly what the teacher is describing.
Add music and calloutsOn-screen text and simple transitions, using our templates.
Cut teasers and promosShort pieces from finished lessons.
Clean the audioWith our AI-assisted tools — you do not need to be a sound engineer.
Deliver tidy filesOrganized project files and finished mp4s.
It also means solving problems nobody taught you at school. When to zoom in and when to stay wide. How long a pause can run before it turns into dead air. Which take to keep when the second one is cleaner but the first one is clearer. What to do when there is no or poor teaching? Or steps are skipped. You do not have the material you need to make A+, so how do you make the best of it?
Three months of it will change the way you see a timeline and an editing app.
05 — The bar
We are not asking for years of experience. We are asking for proof that you already hold a high standard without being told to.
Final-year student, or you graduated in the last two years, in animation, film, motion design, VFX or post-production
You know Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve wellAfter Effects is a plus

Comfortable with AI tools and open to the ones we useThey help us work faster. Your eye still decides what matters
Enough written English to read a brief and ask a precise question
Your own computer that can handle long timelines, good internet, and 30 hours a week
06 — The deal
As a contractor fee. We tell you the exact figure when we shortlist you, before you do any work for us.
Of courses watched by hundreds of thousands of students.
Most professional work can never be shown. This can.
Not fragments of someone else's edit.
Set review meetings during the week, agreed up front.
The entire 21 Draw catalog, while you are with us.
A recommendation letter when you finish.
The strongest intern gets the offer.
All of it from where you already live. No visa, no move, no relocation.
07 — Apply
Two to three minutes long, answering three questions:
A long-form sample helps. Tell us about any work you have done on art, teaching or tutorial videos.
Shortlisted candidates get a test task: cut a 60-second teaser from raw lesson footage, in five days. Most people will not pass it. That is what it is there for.
If yours is one of the two or three we keep, we set up a short call, and then you start.
08 — Two spots
This only works with people who deliver finished work without micromanagement, and there are not many of them. If you have ever spent a whole day on a single recording and enjoyed it, we want you to show us your talent.
